Rolls-Royce Black Badge Cullinan

Black Badge Cullinan Series II is the more visceral current Cullinan, offered alongside the standard Series II model from the May 2024 launch. The original Black Badge Cullinan debuted globally in 2019 and was introduced in South Africa in 2020. Rolls-Royce says the engineering qualities developed for it are preserved in Series II. This is important because the derivative is not defined only by darkened brightwork. Its high-output V12, transmission response, air-spring calibration, steering and braking treatment form a separate owner-driver proposition. The twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre V12 produces 600 PS and 900 Nm. Rounded conversions give 441 kW and 592 bhp. All 900 Nm is available from 1,700 rpm. The ZF eight-speed automatic works with front- and rear-steered axles, and the transmission and throttle are calibrated for a more immediate response. Pressing Low changes the exhaust character and can increase shift speed by 50 percent at 90 percent throttle. As with Black Badge Ghost, Low is a performance setting rather than proof of a low-range transfer case. Higher-capacity air springs were introduced to reduce body roll in the first Black Badge Cullinan and remain part of the current engineering story. Brake pedal travel is shortened for a more immediate response. Series II also introduces a 23-inch ten-spoke-effect wheel, the first wheel of that diameter offered on a Black Badge Rolls-Royce. The design gives a clear view of the brake callipers, but buyers should consider tyre cost, replacement lead time and sidewall protection before assuming the largest wheel is best for every South African route. The exterior distinguishes the model through an illuminated dark grille, black Spirit of Ecstasy, black door handles and model-specific lower treatment. Technical Carbon remains central inside. Individual rear seats can place the Black Badge infinity symbol on the rear waterfall, while Lounge Seat form uses embroidery. Duality Twill and Placed Perforation are available, and SPIRIT allows a choice of vivid digital instrument colours. These details provide a strong palette; a successful commission still needs hierarchy so that the car remains comfortable during long travel. Standard Cullinan and Black Badge Cullinan should be driven back to back. A buyer who prioritises serene versatility may find the standard car more coherent. Black Badge is for someone who notices and values the extra response from engine, gearbox, chassis and brakes. Its visual treatment alone is not a sufficient reason to accept higher tyre exposure or a more assertive personality. Equally, a standard car styled in dark colours does not recreate the Black Badge mechanical calibration. Johannesburg pricing is available only through an individual commission. No exact current South African dimension schedule is public, and the authorised Busan page carries a Series I technical heading, so those regional figures should not be imported as Series II facts. Standard Cullinan dimensions should not be copied either. Black Badge Cullinan Series II is most convincing for an owner who wants SUV access and will also use the stronger road character. It can still travel to varied destinations, but the performance wheel and calibration should be chosen with the actual surface in mind. Standard Cullinan is the better answer when comfort and remote-road resilience dominate; Black Badge earns its place when urgency and dark technical design are recurring priorities.
