The Tata Curvv is the design-led middle SUV in Tata Passenger Vehicles' current South African range. Its sloping rear profile and flush door handles give it a coupe-inspired identity, while the underlying proposition remains practical: five seats, a published 500-litre boot and a body large enough for family use without reaching Harrier dimensions. All three confirmed local derivatives use a 1,199 cc three-cylinder Revotron turbo-petrol engine producing 88 kW at 5,500 rpm and 170 Nm between 1,750 and 4,000 rpm. Pure+ pairs it with a six-speed manual; Creative and Accomplished S use a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Every derivative is front-wheel drive. The torque band should support flexible routine performance, but buyers still need to test low-speed turbo response, loaded overtaking and the dual-clutch gearbox in traffic. The Curvv measures 4,308 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,635 mm high on a 2,560 mm wheelbase. Tata lists 208 mm of unladen ground clearance, useful for uneven road approaches and maintained gravel. Creative DCA changes the daily experience through the seven-speed automatic, 17-inch alloys, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight-speaker Harman audio, automatic climate control, keyless operation, cruise control, a reversing camera and automatic lamps and wipers. Accomplished S DCA is the flagship. It adds 18-inch alloys, sequential lighting, a 360-degree camera, blind-view monitor, hill-descent support, tyre-pressure monitoring, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, leatherette trim, wireless charging, an air purifier and JBL-branded audio with a subwoofer. The flagship's additions are extensive, but engine output and boot capacity remain unchanged. Six airbags across the range are an important safety foundation. Cameras, stability systems and hill aids can support a careful driver but are not autonomous operation. The Curvv buyer should look beyond the silhouette: check rearward visibility, headroom below the sloping roof, flush-handle operation, screen menus, wheel-and-tyre cost and phone compatibility.
